Ann Brand Ph.D. in Psychology
Ann Brand is a mindfulness meditation teacher and college instructor, who loves exploring how the worlds of science and spirituality connect, flow, and intertwine. She is also a wife, mother, friend, wine-enthusiast, and a potter (a complete surprise to her!!). Ann teaches psychology courses in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she is bringing the practice of mindfulness to teachers (both current and future) and students alike. Ann also teaches mindfulness practices here at The Center. Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment on purpose and without judgment. Both research and practice have shown the benefits of mindfulness are great, including improving memory and attention, reducing stress and its effects (mental, emotional, and physical), and allowing for more positive relationships with others. Mindfulness practices have been important for Ann in bringing calm, clarity, and peace to daily life.

Cultivating a Mindful Life: A 6-Week Course in Mindfulness Practice

Our lives seem to be busier than ever, both at home and at work. Our minds constantly buzz with endless tasks, worries, and responsibilities. With these demands on our time and attention, we can find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and exhausted. How much of the time are you truly present? With the practice of mindfulness, we can bring awareness, clarity, and calm to our lives. This course will introduce you to practices and meditation techniques that cultivate mindfulness in our daily life. We will explore the benefits of mindfulness for emotional, mental, and physical well-being and interpersonal relationships. This six-week course will support you in establishing your own continuing mindfulness meditation practice.
